Licencing

Section 1.4 of the software licence contract says I cannot make it available to any third party. This is impossible since various research assistants help me program and run experiments. What shall I do?

If you sign on behalf of your institute or faculty, the program can be used by anybody at your institute or faculty. If it is signed by yourself, you can only use it.

I understand that I am supposed to use the software at my own institution only.  I teach at a university and I also teach at another place. It might be convenient to do some experiments there as well. Will the contract extend to the other place as well?

It depends on behalf of whom you sign. If you sing on behalf of you personally, you can conduct experiment at the place you are. If you sign on behalf of an institute, you and the people in your institute can use it at the institute only. In the latter case, you best sign two contracts for both places where you are going to do experiments.

Is the z-Tree software open source?

No. At the moment, I prefer to be responsible for all the bugs and extensions in the program and to keep the overview.
