Hardware requirements

Our first lab had 26 PCs with 486/66 processors and 16 MB RAM and worked fine with z-Tree. Now we have 866Mz Pentiums with 128MB RAM and 20GB Harddisk.

OS requirements

z-Tree works fine with Windows NT (3.51 or 4.0), Windows 2000 or Windows XP, TCP/IP- Network.

The program does not work properly with Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows ME: Z-Leaf freezes frequently after a certain time. It is possible to test treatments with Windows 95/98. However, it is not recommend to run sessions using Windows 95/98.

Versions of z-Tree

Newer versions of z-Tree can always open treatments programmed with earlier versions of z-Tree.

The reverse is not always true. If there are important changes, treatments that are saved in a new z-Tree version can’t be opened with an older version anymore. I try to avoid semantic changes between versions. However, it might unintentionally happen. Please check old treatments when you run them with the new version.

WINE

It seems that a new version of z-Tree will partially work with some versions of wine. Oliver Kirchkamp has tried it out and written a detailed report on it.
Please tell me if you try things out.

Vitual-PC on Macintosh

z-Tree seems to work in this environment.
