Dr. Thomas Baumgartner
Research Interests
I am interested in the study of the "emotional" and "social" brain using neuroimaging methods such as Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), Positron Emissions Tomography (PET), Electroencephalography (EEG) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in combination with psychometrical and psychophysiological measures (Skin conductance responses, heart rate etc.).
Currently, I am involved in Project 9 titled "Emotional Foundations of Norm Compliance and Norm Enforcement" of the NCCR in Affective Sciences. This project seeks to elucidate the neural basis of norm compliance and norm enforcement in non-criminal individuals and criminal offenders using sequential economic exchange paradigms.
