Welcome

The Institute for Empirical Research in Economics of the University of Zurich consists of twelve  professorshipsand is a part of the economics department.

The Institute for Empirical Research in Economics (IEW), together with the Social-Economic Institute (SOI), form the political economy institutes of the University of Zurich.

The University Research Priority Program "Foundations of Human Social Behavior" is associated with the Institute for Empirical Research in Economics.

Yrjö Jahnsson Award

Professor Fabrizio Zilibotti, Chair of Macroeconomics and Political Economy at the University of Zurich, has been awarded the Yrjö Jahnsson Award. This is the European equivalent of the American John Bates Clark medal, and is the most prestigious European award in economics for economists under the age of 45. The announcement was made on August 27 2009 in a plenary session of the Annual Congress of the European Economic Association in Barcelona. read more
