Gino Gancia

Gino Gancia is a part-time visiting professor at the Chair of Macroeconomics and Political Economy of the IEW. He obtained his Ph.D. at the Institute for International Economic Studeis, Stockholm University, and he spent two years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a visiting scholar. He is currently a senior researcher at the Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI) and an adjunct assistant professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Gino Gancia is specialized in international trade and macroeconomics. His work focuses on the effects of economic integration on economic growth, wage inequality, the size of governments and unemployment. Some recent examples are: "Horizontal Innovation in the Theory of Growth and Development" (with Fabrizio Zilibotti) in the Handbook of Economic Growth (2005), edited by P. Aghion and S. Durlauf, "Increasing Returns, Imperfect Competition and Factor Prices (with Paolo Epifani) forthcoming in the Review of Economics and Statistics and "Trade, Migration and Regional Unemployment" (with Paolo Epifani) published in Regional Science and Urban Economics (2005).
